Driving is a privilege. Carrying a gun is a right

    True, but the fact remains.

I say make everyone join the military for 2 years at the age of 18. After they get some discipline then give them a gun. No CHL needed. Maybe this way the next stupid person who wants to try and rob someone or worse will think twice about it or die. It can only improve the gene pool.

Of course voters are free to wreck our country.
This would be my answer too...

Driving (just like shooting) can be dangerous without proper training, and people who lose their driving (carry) privileges should be prevented from driving/carrying.

Having a reasonable licensing program is ok with me. I'd say that the requirements are too loose for passing the TX test (same for NC and FL in my experience, similar to TX). I don't want drivers on the road that just know how to hit the gas and brake, they need to be able to aim and control their vehicles and know the rules of the road so they don't kill ME by accident...

I think OC and CC should be for everyone at no cost. I wouldn't mind if the state wanted to do a background check and put a CHL qualification on my driver's license. I think a state ID or other proof of US citizenship should be required for gun ownership. (Not that I want to create any hint of a paper trail or gun registration) I think that would put a damper on illegals and felons wanting to own or carry guns. It would give us a better reason to deport them when caught.
